Digital Cinema
Digital Cinema has arrived, we have completed the installation of a 2K digital film projection system that is 3-D capable. We are very excited to be able to bring you the best 3-D movie experience in the area with Dolby Digital 3D. As the movie theater industry continues to evolve from 35mm film projection to 2K and 4K digital projection, the New Strand Theatre will be right here to provide you great presentation of the latest movies in a digital format. This also allows us to show alternative content like operas, concerts and sporting events.
Due to the sizable investment of purchasing a digital projection system our ticket prices will go up a bit, but we are going to make matinees more affordable. Starting 11/21/08, matinees are now $3.50 for regular movies and $5.50 for 3D movies, while our 7:30 show time will be $4.50 for regular movies and $6.50 for 3-D movies (which includes the use of our Dolby 3-D glasses) and prices for alternative content will vary. We also plan to start showing Hawkeye football daytime games for free, but due to delays will start in the 2009 season.We also welcome ideas for other events or shows you are interested in. It is our goal to continue to provide you and your family a great movie experience at an affordable price.
